The Difference Between a Training Bra and Sports Bra

A training bra or preteen bra will help a young girl adjust to her developing breasts while she becomes accustomed to the idea of wearing preteen lingerie. These first bras or bralets are made for young girls, preteens and teens between the ages of six and sixteen, an age when the breasts aren't as large as they most likely will be and also the age of puberty when girls go through many other body changes, too.

Nowadays, first bras for girls can be found in a wide choice of styles, fabrics and colors, adding interest and fun to the ritual of the first preteen lingerie shopping trip. So, which bra styles make good preteen bras? Many young girls opt for sports bras or camisole bras. They have several things in common, such as extra stretch, camisole straps, seamless or all in one piece with no hardware like hooks to cut into the skin.

Although they have things in common a first bra and a sports bra are not the same types of bras. The training bra is exclusively for young developing girls and a sports bra is for athletic training. However, some sports bra styles can be worn as a young woman's preteen bra. Sports bras in smaller bra sizes like 30, 32 or 34 and cup sizes triple A, AA or A could be worn as training bras, which is a good idea if the young woman is very active in sports. A sports bra is the most comfortable style for anyone participating in sports and offers more support than a regular preteen bra.

Feminine designs in training or first bras have become most popular in the United States. Current culture suggests that young people enjoy their youth and with that comes great lingerie and intimate apparel in hip, trendy styles that are popular with preteens and teens alike. Just like older women, young ladies brassieres come in beautiful satin, lace trimmed satin or cotton, sensible white and other popular lingerie colors. Preteen lingerie and brassieres also come in lively cotton prints, vivid hot colors and favorite character prints.

Breast tissue can become sore as it matures, which typically happens between ages 8 to 14, maybe a little sooner or a little later, and a nice brassiere to accommodate this tender tissue has this in mind. The fabrics (and padding if a young lady should choose light padding) will be light weight, silky, cool and comfortable.

A bralet is a type of preteen bra similar to a sports training bra but a great deal lighter in weight. This undergarment is not meant to be seen and is made from a thin somewhat stretchy fabric such as microfiber or a cotton or nylon blend. It takes the place of a preteen bra and spins-off from its big sister, full size older woman sports bra.

A bralet usually has no underwires, hooks or other fasteners, other than possibly a Velcro strip at the back. Small bras are flattering and comfortable as many of them are padded without wires and easy to wear. Brassieres are available for the young, budding woman and are even designed especially for them in every imaginable way.
